The high standards achieved by certified coaches combined with the power of
volume purchasing have made insurance less expensive and easier to obtain
Intercity Insurance is the official insurance broker of most Equine Associations in
Canada. Questions about this Insurance Program must be directed to Intercity Insurance.
The coach insurance program is for coaches who are members of an Equine Association
and are at least 19 years of age with a minimum of 5 years' riding experience.
Coverage is extended to insure assistant instructors who are at least 16 years of age with
a minimum of 3 years riding experience provided they are operating under the direction
of an insured coach meeting the above qualifications.
The 2008 Insurance price starts at only $295. and provides:
$2,000 on owed money
$10,000 on owned property other than buildings (higher limits available)
$10,000. per horse ($100,000. per catastrophe) on horses owned by others
$1,000,000. on tenant legal liability on responsibility for rented premises
$ 5,000,000. on Coach/Trainer World Wide liability including injury to participants
In addition to coaching, the insurance includes coverage related to the following:
- School horses - Transportation of horses belonging to other people
- Breeding - Training of horses (excluding pari-mutuel racing)
- Clinics arranged or hosted - Schooling Shows for students
(and coverage for Boarding or Ownership/Renting of premises may be added)
Commercial equine activities and commercial use of horses not mentioned above are
excluded and require a separate commercial policy. This is easily arranged for members
who apply separately to Intercity Insurance using a separate specially designed
application.
Tack coverage at a $10,000 limit. $500 deductible applies.
